Making the Decision: Divorce is certainly not a step to take
lightly. It is an important and life changing decision for you and your
family. Like most people, you are probably heading into divorce based on
conflicting issues and conditions you feel are no longer tolerable. It
is wise to step back, take a deep breath, and get the information you
need to make an informed decision.
Preparing for the Process: As a family law attorney, I have seen
the divorce process upset too many unsuspecting clients because they had
not had an opportunity to think it through or prepare for it ahead of
time. Attorneys bring important legal expertise, however, they may not
always view the steps of the divorce process through the same lens as a
client. What may seem normal and matter-of-fact to an attorney might
seem surprising or overwhelming to a client. That is why I have designed
this program from the perspective of the person going through a divorce.
Course Summary: In this course you will learn: What you need to do before you file a Petition
for Divorce; How long the process will take and what it will
cost; How long the process will take and what it will
cost; How your family’s day-to-day life will be affected
during and following the divorce; The key issues you will need to address and what you
can expect to experience going through the divorce process; What to expect
from the Judges and the Courts; The common pitfalls and the best way to move through them; How to assess your current finances, then design a way to
