Family Law Fees
Matthews & Matthews’s hourly
fees are in line with market rates in the Denver
metropolitan area.
When individuals choose to become a client of Matthews &
Matthews, we spend time at the outset to discuss the details
of how we bill and the best methods to keep your legal fees
in control.
Every client receives a Welcome Letter that discusses in
detail what you will be charged for and how you will be
billed. The letter includes money saving tips and procedures
to keep track of your charges and save money where possible.
We are committed to working with you to the extent you wish
to find ways to reduce costs where possible.
Clients receive a detailed bill once a month in the third
week of each month. Each bill lists, by item, what work was
done, who did it, how much time it took and the charge for
that time. Our billing system also allows you, at any
moment, to ask for an up to the minute amount that you owe
for legal services and costs. If you have a question
regarding your bill you can call our Managing Partner to
discuss your concern. You will not be charged for staff or
attorney time spent on billing questions or concerns.
We ask for a retainer at the time you hire the Firm. The
amount of the retainer is decided on a case-by-case basis
and is tied to the size and complexity of your case. Your
retainer amount is put into a trust account and is used to
pay your bill on a monthly basis. When your retainer amount
comes close to being fully utilized, you will receive a call
to ask you to replenish the retainer. Any monies that remain
in your trust account at the end of your case will be
returned to you.
Each bill you receive will list the amount that is remaining
in your trust account.
If you would like to ask one of
our attorneys a question about attorney’s fees or billing
or skip that step and come in for
a consultation, we encourage you to do so. |
